My Toolkit
I like to draw and paint for other people. The process is fun for me, too, because it helps me to sit and appreciate a city scape or natural place. My favorite medium is ink and watercolors. I like these because I can do a 'finished' painting on-site, outside.
My tools fit in my backpack. I use Yarka St. Petersburg Watercolors, a Russian paint set, a # 10 round brush, a Speedball (B-51/2) nib, and Higgins waterproof ink. I've used various papers, mostly 140lb weight. I also sometimes use a Uni-ball waterproof ink pen. I always start my work by loosely 'finding' lines with a dull number 2 pencil. I then use the pen/ink and follow or ignore the pencil lines. I usually erase the pencil when I'm done with the ink. Then I paint. My favorite way to paint is in the sunlight, because it dries faster. When it's cold and I'm in the shadows, I get impatient - the paint won't dry fast enough. |
